Winter Wedding at Dairyland in Snohomish
So this winter wedding at Dairyland was actually a non-wedding if we are getting technical.
when Alyssa and jack met with me, they described what they wanted as a bit of an anti-wedding. they are non-traditional and a wedding just didn't really feel like them!
they both have a background in the arts, Alyssa having actually been a theatre major… so what they did want was something a bit theatrical but in a down to earth way.
they settled on a speak easy, where people would gather to lounge, drink, and dance! there would be no ceremony seating, instead the guests would just pause their partying, to observe a wedding.. if they so chose!
ps I was extra excited about this wedding because alyssa’s family is Persian, and most of their guests were from the south.. so the party factor was high.
to anyone who has seen dairyland, a wedding venue in snohomish, you will see that this too was approached a bit differently. they opted out of the venue’s iconic long family style tables and instead brought in antique velvet furniture, picture frames, greenery, and little cocktail tables and finger foods. they hired an amazing live band with a lead singer akin to Norah jones mixed with Amy Winehouse, and it was everything you could want from a swanky vintage cocktail party. Then… halfway through the barn doors parted and in came Alyssa... looking like an ice queen/goddess/movie star (aka looking like herself because she is all of those things).
the ceremony was officiated by her best friend, which was told as chapters of their story, completed with handwritten vows, and an almost forgotten (and therefore more exciting) ring exchange.
after the ceremony, the party carried onward and upward.. they had their guests capturing the entire reception on polaroids, which was amazingggggggg and I highly recommend. there was a lot of dancing, munching, and drinking. and then more dancing.
the night was the soiree of all soirees!
this blog is such a small random selection of what was a truly amazing day, that I am so grateful to have been a part of! xoxoxo
a special thank you to Alyssa and jack’s amazing selves, along with their unbelievably welcoming bridal party and families. all of whom I actually miss a lot and wish I could hang out with all the time.
